She didn't care that the overlanders kept giving her wide-eyed looks and pointing. She didn't care that storming off so aimlessly would probably get her lost. She didn't care that moving so quickly was aggrivating her wounds. All Rouge wanted for the moment was simply to get as far away from her doppleganger as she possibly could. The bat darted down this hall, that corridor, and probably went in a couple of circles before finding her way into what looked like either a breakroom or a waiting room. Whatever it was, it had large, inviting couches, a few tables and chairs, a snack and soda machine, and a television mounted in the corner near the ceiling. Most importantly, it was empty, and being alone seemed mighty appealing at the moment. Rouge flopped onto the nearest cushion and curled her knees up to her torso. Even upon only a second or two of reflection, the scowl she'd given her other self quickly returned, and offended tears were soon to follow. She felt.... She couldn't even detail what she felt in that moment, really. It was such a jumble of intense emotion that decoding it quickly became overwhelming. Rather than attempting to tame the mess, Rouge's attention drifted up to the TV, sniffling and wrapping her uninjured arm around her legs.

Rouge would get her much desired time alone, at least for awhile. Listening to the sound of his own footsteps against the linoleum, Rob wandered through the military complex, silently cursing at himself for not having gone after her sooner. Now he was lost on top of having lost her, and all he found himself able to do was reflect over that... conversation... and stew over it. Stopping only to question soldiers he would pass if they had seen the snowy bat, he couldn't help but notice the odd expressions they gave him before wondering off. Finally, now, he had come across a promising looking door. Gently opening it he peeked inside. " Rouge...?" he called.

The bat's ears twisted backwards at the sound of her own name. The voice was easily recognized as her boyfriend's, but strangely, she didn't get up to greet him. In fact, she didn't even move aside from the flip of her ears. Rouge's body remained rigidly curled, and her eyes never wavered in their glare up at the TV. "Hi, Rob."

Noting his beloved's expression, Rob's lips pressed together and he quietly walked over, taking a seat down beside her. A long awkward silence seemed to stretch from that point, the hedgehog looking concernedly down at Rouge with his hands neatly in his lap. After a moment he glanced toward the television. "So uh..." he finally spoke awkwardly. "Anything good on?"

" I don't know," she mumbled into her knees. In all honesty, she hadn't really been paying much attention to the program, which not surprisingly seemed to be a show about military weaponry. Deciding to take advantage of her partner's presence, Rouge scooted aside to curl up against the hedgehog's lap, but the tension remained locked in her muscles. Despite her attempts to find a distraction, her thoughts darkly hovered around her other self. In a way she wanted to talk about it, but at the same time, she just wanted it all to go away.

Frowning slightly, Rob reached a hand over and idly began to stroke at her hair. Again there was silence, until... " She... she's definitely... something," he finally said.

Despite the comfort of Rob's petting, Rouge's tension intensified, and her hands clenched around the material of his cloak. "She's...!! Sh-She's a beast!!" the bat finally hissed, her voice somewhat hoarse from the tightness of her throat.

Rob glanced aside awkwardly, his brow knitting up in confoundment. Did she actually just use a racial slur? " She did help me find you at least."

Rouge's breaths slowly but surely grew more forceful, and her white fur became increasingly frizzy. With a slight shake of her head, she replied, "No, that... other Espio w-was the real help. Sh-She just made it easier for him!" Pushing herself upright, Rouge's expression locked into a state of confused anger. " How can a woman be so... so... so heartless?! H-How c-can she be... M-ME?!"

Pulling in a deep breath through his mouth, the hedgehog exhaled it through his nose and shook his head, an unmistakable look of disgust on his face. "I... I don't know, luv," he said in frustration. "I'd say from her appearance she's probably bitter. I just... don't know what makes a person so ignorant."

Rouge just seethed silently rather than reply. The memories of the recent confrontation were so crisp and clear in her mind, as though she'd been watching some twisted movie. Watching the way that woman -- herself, really -- had treated Rob... How she'd almost ignited a fight between Rob and Knuckles... Even thinking back to their first meeting, and how disrespectful she'd been even then...And she's supposed to be ME. She can't be what I'm really like on the inside... Can she?? The bat's typically snowy features reddened to a crimson, and her body began to shake. Actually, was she even breathing?

Seeing her starting to turn red, Rob frowned, quickly reaching a hand over and gently scritching at the back of her ear. "Don't let her get to you, luv. You're nothing like her," he said softly. Thinking back on the other Rouge his nose wrinkled slightly. The way she antagonized everyone, her temper, her disrespect, her willful ignorance - the words she had said to her counterpart which made his blood boil. She may have had the face, but the same person she definitely was not.

The breath she'd been holding abruptly escaped in the form of a blissful chatter as Rob's soothing touch reached her ear. Rouge's stiff posture melted into relaxation, her pulse slowed, and her eyes partially closed. Beyond her conscious thinking, the bat began to lean the weight of her head into her boyfriend's hand. " I... h-hope I'm not..." she whispered on a breath.

Slipping an arm around her shoulder, Rob pulled her closer to her and kissed her gently on the side of the head. "You're too beautiful to ever be someone like her."

One thing was for certain: Rob had most definitely succeeded in calming her down. Rouge melted into the archer's arms and let out a faint, almost inaudible chatter. Much of the heat of the moment had passed, but even still, she found she couldn't help mulling over it with a steadier mind. The bat glanced at her uncasted hand, and felt a string of uncertainty. " ...I can't believe I hit her."

Resuming his gentle stroking at her locks, Rob furrowed his brow. "That was... certainly something. Can't say she didn't deserve it though," he paused for an awkward moment as he recalled the bat's reaction to her counterpart. Shocking as it had been he also felt rather... proud of her. " You know you were rather attractive back there. Standing up for yourself like that."

Rouge paused at that comment, unsure what to do with it. She... hadn't really been expecting anyone to approve of her lashing out. But then, that other woman was just so nasty. Rouge was almost surprised to find that she didn't even have the slightest bit of remorse for striking her. In fact... The bat cleared her throat. "It... It kind of felt good to do it."

"I don't normally condone such fighting, but... aye. In this case I think an exception is in order," Rob frowned, allowing his words to trail off. Really, there wasn't anything more he could think of to say on the subject - nothing that wouldn't potentially rile the woman in his arms back up, that is. Instead he allowed his mind to drift off toward other important concerns... ... Only to have the door suddenly swing open. A pair of glowing red eyes peered into the door, the hedgehog-shaped form of a metallix stalking inside with a wounded gate. Startled, Rob looked up at the beaten up robot, recoiling defensively as his quills splayed out. It looked like a robian... a severely beaten up robian... but this wasn't Mercia. After a moment of rational thinking he recalled the robian monkey and hedgehog (at least, he believed he was a robian) he had met earlier, both of whom appeared to have had their free will, and allowed himself to settle down. "... Hello?" the archer asked. Metal was busy staring at the two, momentarily sidetracked from the fact he was searching for a computer to hack into. Instead his focus had locked in onto the injured bat being held by the other room's occupant.

The abrupt noise startled her for a moment, but as soon as her green eyes settled on the battered robot, Rouge's expression darkened. Without the slightest bit of hesitation, the bat unwrapped herself from Rob's embrace and pushed her body on its feet. A bizarre sense of exhilaration seemed to have taken the place of the fear she'd felt in their first meeting. Perhaps it was that she'd already faced him once, perhaps it was that she'd discovered a new strength from confronting her other self -- or, more likely, equal parts of each. Rouge crossed the carpeted floor until her nose nearly touched Metal's spiky facsimile. It was at that moment that her bitter glare transformed into an outright snarl. "What... are you doing here?"

The sudden and unexpected tension that rose between the two left Rob momentarily stunned. It had been shocking enough to see Rouge rise up against her counterpart, but now this robian...? Getting to his feet, he took a few steps toward the two, holding a hand out as if to offer assistance. "What's going on?" The metallix never flinched as the furious bat began her march, and glared unfazed into her eyes as she placed her face into her own. Yes, it was definitely the same bat he had found in Robotropolis. He recognized the injuries he left on her. Inwardly rolling his eyes at the incompetence of the SWATbots he had left her with, he opted toward ignoring her. Instead he shifted his weight to one side, enough to allow him to take a look around the room. Nothing. No terminal. His eyes thoughtfully shifted back toward Rouge.

The metallix's indifference only served to make her irate. Whether it was because she was ignoring her boyfriend or simply didn't notice he'd joined them, Rouge clenched her good hand into a fist. "SAY SOMETHING!!"

Metal continued to ignore her; though now it was more out of spite than anything else. Keeping his gaze locked onto her aquamarine eyes the gears in his hard drive turned. This woman was supposed to be a Priority One threat... but she wasn't. He knew from experience she was easy enough to take down. Maybe he could use that to his advantage. Would they be so willing to shoot her...? Rob, meanwhile, was doing a remarkable impression of a turquoise dandelion puff. The volume and intensity that so quickly surged from his beloved had more than slightly startled him.

Rouge's jaw clenched. She couldn't explain this feeling anymore than the last, but as with previously, she felt no panic or reluctance. Feeling her anger, and furthermore expressing it, had become oddly freeing. "I'm not afraid of you," the bat growled. "You're not going to get away with it."

Her face beginning to exemplify her nickname, Rouge's tensed muscles quivered with infuriated frustration. "L-Laugh if you want," she sputtered, "but you're just as broken as I am right now!!"

"I can also be fixed quicker than you can," the robohog snerked. Without any further elaboration one of his talons shot out in a bid to snatch her injured arm. [dice=6][rand=992044917554084124372101600964224083153555979038067951668533240133]

[dice=6] To her credit, Rouge's attempt to dodge wasn't a bad one, and came very close to succeeding. However, Metal Sonic was just the slightest bit faster. The bat howled with pain as her tender shoulder became wrenched in his grip. "LET... GO!!" she ordered, thrashing violently backwards.[rand=758045589386180893766386740297481110587780666636423144861128147487]

In an instant Rob's mind had snapped from shock to action as the robot turned violent. Reaching back behind him, he intended to retrieve his bow with an arrow... only to find his hand grasping at air. Oh, yes, that was right. He had been transported here without his quiver, hadn't he? Cursing under his breath, the archer went for the next best action he could think of... grab the robot and attempt to wrench his loose. "LEAVE HER ALONE!" [dice=6] [dice=6] Veto. Metal turned and gave a sort of 'are you kidding?' look at Rob, then jerked, wrenching the hedgehog's grip loose and sending him stumbling backward. Satisfied, he made an attempt to snatch Rouge with his other hand and hoist her under his arm. [dice=6][rand=48011066246005596473181933567478328219763850213747760937951809113]

[dice=6] Metal would probably be surprised, however, that Rouge caught him before he could do so to her. "I told you," she hissed lowly, "we're both broken. Y-You can't push me around this time!!" She had to think. The bat's expression became firm with determination. Her good arm may have been occupied, and her good wing may have been useless, but she still had two good legs. Mustering what strength her injured body had, the bat whipped back her right leg, then with a forceful and frustrated cry sent it charging forward toward Metal's neck. [dice=6] CRACK. As the world let loose with a cascade of blurred color the metallix's hand slipped loose from Rouge's arm. As the ground scooped him up he blinked a couple of times, as though to clear the unexpected change in direction through his processor, and looked up at the bat now looming over him. His eyes narrowed slightly. While there was no doubt that anger was in the expression, there was also an odd sort of... satisfaction. So she did have some mettle after all. [dice=2] (1: Attacks, 2: EPIC FAIL)Metal made an attempt to spring up and kick her legs out from under her, unfortunately... it didn't go quite as planned. With his armor damaged and oddly expanded in the manner it was, it made his moves clunky at best. So what was to be a quick and fluid action instead... wound up with him now laying on his stomach in lieu of his back. ... Well this was awkward.
