Even though the latest headline read that the explosives appeared to have all either gone off or been sufficiently dampened, and that the resulting fires were now effectively contained, Leedz could not smother the feeling of panic as she stared misty-eyed at the television screen. Whatever relief there was to be had in the knowledge that her homestead was safe had been squelched long ago by the haunting fact that her roommate had gone on a would-be date at a theater not so far from ground zero. A theater that, not long before, had been shown by the news helicopter to be completely ablaze, and that had collapsed only minutes ago. The containment perimeter engulfed the site by a couple of miles. Her reddened eyes drifted to her silent cell phone on the coffee table. She'd sent several messages to Raki, desperately trying to ascertain if she was okay, but the signal towers had been completely jammed with hundreds upon hundreds of other citizens attempting the exact same thing. The pangolin's eyes welled up, and quickly spilled over again, at the thought that Raki herself may have tried to send her a cry for help; could she be trapped and suffering somewhere that very moment, while Leedz sat around at home uselessly instead of rushing off to help? The flow of tears rapidly fell down past her cheeks and dripped into her lap, and Leda buried her face in one of the couch's throw pillows. First Dash disappears without a trace... What if Raki never returned, either? What if she simply disappeared, with no way to even find out what had become of her? What if it turned out she could have been saved, but hadn't been, because she'd sat back and waited instead of taking charge and going off to find her and help her? A gulp of air became trapped in the pangolin's throat. The thought of living her life without someone so dear made her feel nauseated. Her heart raced, almost painfully so, and her breaths became laboured. Leedz opened her mouth as wide as she could and forced a deep gasp; she seemed to be having panic attacks more and more often as of late. Replacing the pillow at the couch's arm, Leda laid herself down and struggled to calm herself, idly wiping her face and glancing periodically at the television. It took a great deal of effort, but eventually, the pangolin brought herself back to a semi-normal state... and exhausted herself doing so. Despite the dire emergency right in front of her face, she found it increasingly difficult to keep her swollen eyes open, until she was no longer able to combat the urge to close them.

Eventually, some time later, the sound of the door clicking shut would greet her ears as her roommate did, in fact, return. And in one piece as well, though her expression was unreadable- more lost in thought then anything of worry, however. As the door closed behind her she peered into the living area, taking note of both the pangolin and the tv.

The sounds of the door weren't particularly loud, but enough to rouse the prone pangolin back to reality. Blinking and rubbing her tender features, Leedz was overwhelmed with surprise and relief to find the black and white tenrec just a few feet away. Unable to restrain herself, she jolted clumsily to her feet and locked her roommate into a bear hug. " Raki!!"

"... so did you ever find a rhyme for razor blade?"

"Screw you," the pangolin squeaked as her throat tightened up. "I was worried about you!!"

Smirking slightly, the tenrec gave her a return squeeze from within the hug. "Wouldn't you be more worried if I wasn't acting myself?" Pulling herself away from the hug slightly, she looked her roommate over, taking note of her slightly disheveled appearance. Oh yes, she had been worried. "... SO, how's the new tenet? Creepy loner? Secret agent? Empire City's Next Top Model?"

In spite of herself, Leedz couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh," she mumbled, wiping at her muzzle, "I think I get a definite alien vibe from him. One of us is going to end up with a probe in an uncomfortable place."

"Obviously you need to get the jump on him, then", the tenrec replied glibly, finally gently extricating herself fully from the pangolin's grip. Moving to the kitchen she began to rummage through the fridge. Explosions and waiting long periods of time in a bunker tended to make one hungry, after all. "And what about you? Did going out help any?"

"..." The pangolin dumped her weary body into a chair at the table and rested her head and arms against against the smooth, cool surface. "Well, it got rid of my root rot."

Grabbing some sandwich supplies from the fridge, she nodded to the pangolin. "Well, I'm glad to hear that at least."

There was a pause before she turned, dramatically, (and holding up a plastic bag of deli turkey), and proclaimed... "I WAS SAVED BY A WILD PANGOLIN IN A TIE." And then she turned again to work on her sandwich. "Overall I say it was a decent outing."

SUDDENLY, THE DOOR BURST OPEN.
"Heh.. PROBE ANYONE?!" :D

Leedz facepalmed, and proceeded to massage her brow afterward. "Well, regardless, I'm just really really relieved you're okay... Dash missing is bad enough without you disappearing, too."

"Well, I don't plan on disappearing anytime soon," she replied, frowning as her thoughts wandered to the disappearance of their neighbor.

"Well I doubt Dash planned on it either..." Suddenly Leedz's pink face twisted into a scowl. "You know, this just figures. The police won't listen to me as it is, and now that there's been a nother major disaster, they're going to blow me off COMPLETELY."

This brought a frown to the tenrec's face. "... possibly. Hopefully if you press the issue you'll manage to make yourself impossible to ignore. It's not everyday someone disappears..." she paused, tilting her head as a thought briefly passed, "... unless he ended up in Sol the same way Chase ended up here." That said, she took a bite from a newly created sandwich.

"That..." The pangolin sat upright, looking dumbfounded. "That's not a bad guess, actually. I mean, if he randomly ended up here, who's to say Dash couldn't randomly end up there? Hell, maybe they flat-out traded places." Holding her chin in thought, Leedz began to tip backwards in her chair. "Still, it's probably not a good idea to make any assumptions, even if it makes good sense. I'm going to keep looking for him here." Folding her arms indignantly, she added, "Even if I have to do my OWN investigation!"

Chewing at her sandwich, Raki Rec nodded. At least, that's all she really could do at the moment, what with her mouth full. It would be rude to do more, you see. Of course, once that bite was done away with she managed to make a true reply. "I'm glad to hear you say that. It'd probably be more effective then sitting on the couch watching Platinum Ferret or whatever."

Leedz cringed sheepishly. "C'mon... It was just because I was afraid that if I went anywhere, I'd miss him if he came back." Leaning her chin into one hand, the writer idly fiddled with the salt shaker with her free appendage. "But I think at this point it's safe to guess that... he's not coming back. Or at least, not on his own. So if he can't help himself, and the police won't help him, then I'LL help him."

Frowning, she mulled over a response before replying. "I'm going to stick with my Sol hypothesis. It may be an assumption but it fits the facts as well as anything." Giving her one more glance, she added, "That, and it won't give you a heart attack from worry..." Lifting the sandwich to her face to take another bite, she once again paused, glancing at the pangolin. "... I need to check my email." Chomp.

"I should get on my computer, too. I need to work out a game plan." Rising to her feet, the pangolin headed to her bedroom, muttering to herself with more focus and drive than she'd shown in weeks. "First I need to contact the police again, and demand to talk to one of the detectives... And I'll need to be prepared with a list of events and dates and times... Gotta have the backstory prepared, too... And I'll give them five more chances... ... Well, maybe four... At least three... And if I do this on my own I'll ask Nook for a key to Dash's apartment so I can look for more clues...."

Watching the pangolin wander off muttering to herself, Raki couldn't help but give a slight smirk as she stood there, sandwich in hand. It was nice to see her up and about again instead of crying on the couch. Sure, she was still obsessing over Dash, but it was understandable... BUT... she had other things to attend to. And it wasn't really email, though it involved the computer. Entering her room, she took a seat at her desk, placed her sandwich to the side and logged in. WalkingCorpse: Guess who almost died today! WalkingCorpse: I'll give you a hint, starts with M, ends with E!

The reply wasn't immediate. In fact, it took several minutes before cobalt colored shades of text appeared in response. SwiftGlider: *back* ... Buh?

WalkingCorpse: No, not 'buh'. SwiftGlider: What happened?? WalkingCorpse: Oh, you know Station Square. It explodes every other week. SwiftGlider: What happened? Are you okay?? WalkingCorpse: Fireworks factory got set up by some terrorist guy.
Pausing, Raki scratched a bit at her nose, pondering. To the side of the instant messenger she opened a new browser window, tapped in the name 'Alexi Dimitrov' and began to browse through the results. WalkingCorpse: I'm fine though. Just almost got an impromptu BOOM HEADSHOT. WalkingCorpse: And I'm sure you know how I feel about headshots and all. You know. Being undead. SwiftGlider: At least you're okay... what about Leedz? She okay too? WalkingCorpse: Yeah, she's fine. She wasn't anywhere near at the time. WalkingCorpse: I was out seeing that Werehog movie I told you about with Sep. SwiftGlider: Sep is... that guy from that movie forum you hang around? WalkingCorpse: That's the one, yeah. Can you keep a secret? SwiftGlider: Sure. What's up?
The reply didn't come immediately, both because she was considering if she really should mention anything and also because she'd found a few rather... interesting articles in her browsing. However, the answer did eventually come. WalkingCorpse: Seeing as he never told me until I met him, I don't think he really wants this becoming well known, which I can understand. If I were in his situation I'd want to stay on the low too. Turns out though that he's actually Dr. Zachary. There was an equally long pause from the bat's end as she puzzled over what she had just learned. SwiftGlider: ... Wait. Y'mean as in the cyborg doctor? WalkingCorpse: That one, yes, as opposed to the proctologist. SwiftGlider: ... SwiftGlider: ... Really? WalkingCorpse: Would I lie to you? WalkingCorpse: About this WalkingCorpse: I regret nothing from the shrimp incident SwiftGlider: ... Dude. Really Seriously? SwiftGlider: ... SwiftGlider: ... What was he like? =O WalkingCorpse: Pretty much the same as he is online, but it's kind of intimidating meeting him in person. I was expecting someone much more dorky. WalkingCorpse: Not to say he wasn't a dork. WalkingCorpse: We were watching Werehog vs Squidula for Chaos' sake. SwiftGlider: Dude. That is so cool XD So how'd things go? WalkingCorpse: Explosively. SwiftGlider: ... Ah WalkingCorpse: Actually... it's because of him I'm still around. WalkingCorpse: You know how I mentioned BOOM HEADSHOT? He tackled me out of the way when it was coming. SwiftGlider: ... D= SwiftGlider: ... Damn. Is HE alright? D= WalkingCorpse: I think so. He didn't say anything and I didn't see anything. Neither of us seemed to of gotten hit by anything. SwiftGlider: That's good at least @_@ So what happened anyway? I haven't been watching the news SwiftGlider: ... I'm also inclined to ask why Leedz just IMed me asking about a Holmes hat WalkingCorpse: She's still trying to find Dash. WalkingCorpse: The Dark Legion set the fireworks factory up. Apparently the guy that did it died though, so I guess it didn't work out for them. SwiftGlider: Ah. ... I'm really glad I live in Mystic Ruins and not Station Square =| WalkingCorpse: If I didn't have acute Trainwreck Disorder I'd probably move, myself. SwiftGlider: Yeah but then you have giant fireballs flying at your head =| 'Course I had a bunch of soldiers break into my house and kidnap me so I guess I'm not much better off~ WalkingCorpse: Pardon? SwiftGlider: What, didn't I tell you? A bunch of GUN soldiers broke into my house and kidnapped me and my neighbor. Also, that black hedgehog from the news broke in shortly after THAT incident. I swear I'm not making any of that up. It's why I moved recently~ WalkingCorpse: Oh yeah, that. Thought it happened again. SwiftGlider: Oh hell no then I'd be a basket case~

All of a sudden, the pink pangolin reappeared, leaning into her roommate's doorway. "Hey Raki, do we still have that taser we got on eBay?"

Pausing from her writing, the tenrec quirked a brow. "... Yes." One small rummage into hammer space later she held the aforementioned object to her roommate. "I'm not going to ask what you're going to use it for, but I ask that I eventually get it back."
