"Hya! Hoh! Ha!" Bunnie huffed, exerting breath from deep within her gut with each move she made. Hips pivoting, mechanical feet swaying through the grass, the movements of her hands were quick, precise, and deadly. "HYAAA!" she shouted, kicking one foot to her ankle and then setting it to the floor as she sank into a low horse-riding stance, both arms held above her knees. She paused in that position to emphasize her ending, then slowly her feet slid together. Standing straight, she bowed to the air in front of her. "Whew," Bunnie exhaled, as she lifted back up, breaking her rigid stance to wipe at her brow. It was the finish to a kata she had just preformed in her back yard, the last of several she had been practicing all afternoon in an effort to sharpen her martial arts skills. Breathing heavily from the amount of energy it took from her athletic frame, the half-mechanical rabbit walked off, leaving the grass that served as her training mat, crossing over her back deck and entering the sliding glass door that lead to her kitchen. From there it was a beeline to the fridge. The cool glass of the pitcher she retrieved felt welcoming on her organic hand after being in the hot sun for so long. Snatching a pink cup and pouring the pitcher's contents, lemonade, within, she then topped it off with a blue straw. As she took in a long and heavenly draw of the sweetly-sour liquid, she pressed the pitcher against her neck and chest. Hoooo yeah. That hit the spot. All that was left now to make this relaxing moment complete was a nice lounge on her favorite spot on the sofa, a magazine and one of her favorite talk shows. This was precisely her intent as she swayed into the living room - but it wouldn't come to be. One of her large ears jerked sideways as a loud knock assaulted it. With a curious glance at the door, she set her cup on a nearby coffee table and wandered over to answer it.

Waiting on the other side of the door was a pangolin, with what looked like an eager grin plastered across her face. Despite the excited sparkle in her eyes, one of them didn't shine quite so brightly; a large, deep purple bruise peeked out from her cerise fur for a good two inch radius around her left eye. Under her left arm, she carried a package somewhat larger than a shoebox and wrapped in newspaper. A dirty bandage encompassed much of her load-bearing forearm. The other arm, however, waved pleasantly in greeting. "HI!"

"Oh! Howdy y--" upon realizing who was standing there, Bunnie motioned to greet her--only to stop short when she noticed the pangolin's physical condition. "--Ya'll," she finished, realizing she had paused mid-sentence. "Hon, are ya'll okay?!"

"I'm doing great!" Julie beamed, looking quite satisfied with herself. "I don't know if you even remember me, but you gave me and a devil a lift a few weeks back. It was when you were moving here, remember? Anyway, I've been trying to track you back down since then; go figure that when you've only got a first name and a city to go on, it takes a while to find someone!"

"Oh, yes'n Ah remember ya'll. Julie, right?" Bunnie said, grinning sheepishly while trying to avert her eyes from the pangolin's wounds. How could she forget seeing the girl so despondent, even breaking down in tears at one point after that lunatic boyfriend had chased her down the way he had? "Well, honey," the rabbit said, stepping aside to allow room, "Don't just stand there'n door like, come in'n make yerself cozy!"

That actually seemed to throw her off for a moment. "...Oh, no no, I wasn't just going to barge into your house or anything! I mean, I already did that once, sort of, and that didn't really end well for you." Shifting the paper-wrapped parcel to both hands, she pointedly held the bundle out to her host. "Nah, I just stopped by to give you this! It's why I was trying to find you."

Blinking in surprise at the offered bundle, Bunnie reached out to accept it, eyeing it curiously and testing its weight in her hands. "Well stars, hon, Ah uh..." she looked back up at her benefactor, that sheepish look returning. "Ah can't, I don't, uh..." she paused, "Well shucks, now Ah certainly can't let ya'll just run off without lettin' ya rest yer feet 'n offerin' a nice cold glass'a lemonade after bein' so nice, now can I?"

The pangolin chuckled. "Well, actually it's an apology. I felt really bad that I'd ruined those sculptures of yours, and I couldn't just leave it at that. I mean, how shitty would it be of me to break something irreplaceable AND get a free ride and do nothing to make up for it?" Even so, Julie finally accepted the invitation inside, whistling at her surroundings. "Nice place~"

"Oh hon, Ah toldja it wuddn't no thang," Bunnie said, closing the door and wondering toward a table where she motioned to one of said sculptures. Indeed, it was difficult, if not impossible to tell it had ever been broken at all. "Ah've broken a fair share'a my own work before... parta bein' an artist is knowin' how to patch up the mistakes and hide 'em. "Besides, she continued, now wandering toward the living room area to take a seat. "What what a wreck ya'll were in Ah sure can't hold nothin' against ya..."

Despite the general confidence of her demeanor, Julie grimaced at Bunnie's last remark. She really hated displaying weakness, even to a stranger. It was a peculiar blow to her pride knowing that she'd left such an impression with someone. Following after her hostess, the pangolin coughed uncomfortably into her fist and glanced aside. "Er, yeah, I was... out of sorts then," she said, attempting to both smooth the incident over and disguise her embarrassment. "It was just a bad day all around."

"Hmm," the rabbit idly hummed. "So how've ya'll been? That boy treatin' ya alright?"

"Who, Crash?" Taking a seat as well, Julie leaned her chin atop her right fist. "Yeah, but he's being a pain today. I invited him to come with me today so we could check out your town after I gave you your present, but he had a big fit and refused. He didn't even want me to come." A smile overtaking her face, the pangolin then motioned to the as yet undisturbed gift. "Speaking of which, though, open it! The suspense is killing me!"

Despite the rabbit's best attempts to hide it behind a sheepish smile, her eyes drooped ever so slightly. Oh yes, she had a pretty good idea why the tasmanian devil had declined to come... Despite the awkward sense that clung to the air, the pangolin's enthusiasm was infectious. Brushing aside her concern for the moment, Bunnie peered down at the newspaper wrapped gift in her arms, and her smile became more genuine. "Ya'll really shouldn'ta, hon..." she chuckled, peeling away the layers.

As the crude wrapping was torn away, Bunnie would find herself with a brand new box of modeling clay. Including the price tag, which Julie neglected to remove or scratch off.

As the rabbit peered at what was revealed, she couldn't help but be amazed at this girl's thoughtfulness. She recognized the brand, and though it was one she didn't personally use (she found that it was too firm and dried out too easily), her thoughts were still that of appreciation. "Oh wow," she said, holding it up to look over. "Ya'll didn't have to go outta yer way like this... thank you!"

"It's not a big deal," Julie smirked. "And besides, I wanted to. Even without having broken your stuff, it squares us off for the ride you gave us."

Looking between the pangolin and the chunk of raw material in her hands, the rabbit smiled. As she turned the clay over in her hands a bit, that smile couldn't help but tug to the side of her face. "So, tell me, hon," she began. "What sorta things do ya'll like anyway?"

"Definitely not anything as creative as sculpting," Julie chuckled. "I'm more into cars. I had a neat shop with my brothers before......... ..." An uncertain pause interrupted the flow of speech. Should I actually go into the whole dimensional thing? It's been on the news, but that doesn't mean she's followed it. It could be a big pain in the ass to explain if she doesn't know...

"Hmm?" the rabbit asked, experimentally weighing the block of clay in her hands as she seemed to ponder over something.

"....before I started living with Crash," Julie finished. This woman was just a quick acquaintance; she didn't need to be bored with all of the details.

Both of the rabbit's ears responded to this answer by wilting slightly. Knitting her brow together, she lowered the clay and glanced over at Julie. "Y'know, hon, iffin there's anything ya'll'd like to talk about, Ah'm willin' to listen..."

"Huh?" Julie tilted her head a degree and asked, "Like what?" It sounded like there was something on the rabbot's mind, but she just couldn't place what.

"Me and Crash?" the pangolin echoed in surprise. "Er... ...." Now that she'd been put on the spot, Julie couldn't think of a single thing to say.

At last Julie caught up with her hostess's meaning, and released an exhale while pointing toward her face. "Oh, this? Yeah, that happened a couple days ago. It was my own fault, really; we were having it out and I wasn't paying attention."

The rabbit nodded, idly beginning to pry open the box of clay. "Y'know, if ya'll ever need help, or a place to stay - anythang - mah home's open as yer refuge. Ah might be able to find ya some good help 'bout yer circumstances too, if yer willin'..."

"...." Forcefully clearing her throat, Julie pondered how to respond. It was certainly a generous offer, if a bit... awkward... "Well, thanks, that's really nice. If I ever have any problems, I'll... keep you in my address book?"

"Ah know we don't know each other too well 'n it seems I'm just meddlin'," Bunnie replied sheepishly, having noticed the awkward tinge in Julie's tone as she pinched off a piece of clay and began to knead it. "But it's as plain as ya'll's nose that yer a girl lost in this world."
