Two pairs of feet swept quickly alongside each other down the corridors of the hospital. The pair slightly ahead due to it's quickened pace belonged to a black and white pangolin. On him he wore a black lab coat accompanied by pants, a nice dress shirt and a tie. His hands were quite noticeably different in the fact they were mechanical and on his snout he wore a pair of rose colored glasses. "Give me the summary," The pangolin said to his trailing assistant, a young and slightly scrawny looking buck in a white lab coat who was fumbling with a stack of papers. "Well Dr. Zachary," The buck began, "He's a maine lobster, male, and looks to be about mid-teens. We haven't been able to get a positive ID on him or get in contact with any relatives or friends. He has a complete amputation of the right upper extremity and a pretty bad case of whiplash due to being broadsided by a motorboat." "Ugh. Poor kid. How's his condition? Was he conscious at all?" "Well, he's stable enough. Despite the injury there doesn't seem to be much blood lost and all his vitals seemed in order. As for being conscious..." the assistant coughed. "What I heard from the guys at the ER they actually had to call in security to handle him. He was causing a huge ruckus and apparently out of his mind." "Delirium and adrenaline," Zachary sighed. "I suppose it's safe to assume then that we don't have consent from him or any next of kin. Hmm," He chewed on his lip as he walked, "As long as his condition's still stable I want to speak to him before he's prepped. To see if his mental condition's improved at all. If it hasn't I'm going to have to act in his best interest." "Right, Doctor."

(die roll for level of sanity, 1-10) [dice=10] The patient now laid strapped down to his hospital bed, rocking back and forth nervously (the best as one could whilst strapped down, mind you) while muttering to himself in an almost incoherent manner. He now found himself unable to close his eyes, even to blink, which had become annoying as well as terrifying since they were now beginning to become uncomfortably dry. His speech was slightly slurred due to the fact that he was now drooling uncontrollably, his hospital gown as good as soaked because of such. Sadly, he was a much more pleasant sight than he'd been five minutes ago before a nurse managed to shove a tranquilizer down his throat. At this point, he didn't even know where he was. Not that he often knew that whilst sober from tranquilizers, anyways. Whilst he continued muttering gurgled gibberish, he could've sworn he'd heard someone enter. Not that we was really paying attention to anything around him ; the poor dolt didn't even realize a third of his arm had grown back already.[rand=45127874747991771143493984008685277789146316092058488352169194124]

Zachary had given a strong knock on the door before he entered without waiting for a response. He paused long enough to take in the lobster's condition and demeanor before approaching him. "Hello sir, I'm Dr. Zachary. Are you aware of where you are right now?"

The young crustacean attempted to focus his eyes in the direction of the voice, but to no avail. "I CANTH SEETH YTHOU." Garbled the lonesome creature from his hospital bed.

The pangolin winced a bit, moving into a spot where he hoped the lobster would be able to focus on him more clearly. "You're in the hospital sir. I'm afraid you've been involved in a very bad accident. Can you tell me your name?" Why am I talking to this kid anyway? Zachary mentally frowned, his eye trailing back and forth over Crunch slowly. If it's not an internal emergency I'm appointment only... those crazy ER technicians and their... Wait. His eye came to rest on the crustacean's partially regrown arm. Quickly he brought up his clipboard and flipped through the paperwork he'd acquired from his assistent. ... I swear whoever they've got working in that emergency department needs to be fired. Don't they even know the difference between a complete and partial amputation?!

The lobster flailed about in response to his question. "I CRUNTH! CRUNTH!" He attempted to reply, dispelling a large amount of saliva in doing so.

Okay, maaaaaaybe moving closer to him had been a bad idea. "Crunth?" he paused for a moment in an attempt to make sense of that. "Crunth... Crunth... Crunch? Your name is Crunch?"

The lobster let out a loud cough, dispelling enough saliva to be able to talk somewhat coherently. "YES."

In light of this new information, Zachary grabbed the pen from from the top of his clipboard and jotted down the name. Something, he realized, was burning in the back of his mind. Like some important detail he knew he was forgetting and just couldn't put his finger on. He pondered on that a bit as he continued to question. "Mr. Crunch, you are aware of your current condition, right? You've lost your arm in a motorboat accident. I'm a prosthesis specialist," Here on practically a house call, "I'm here to see you fitted with a replacement arm. Do you understand?"

The lobster was suddenly very quiet. "... No."

The pangolin quirked his brow at Crunch's response. He'd come in already knowing talking to this kid was probably going to be useless once he'd learned of his sedation, but that response had sounded strangely lucid. He decided to press on, though that forgotten detail was still gnawing at him. Setting down his clipboard on a nearby air conditioner, he took to rolling one of his sleeves up past his elbow until he'd exposed the area where his mechanical arm ended and the stump it was attached to began. The gold and black gauntlet he often wore as his alter ego was missing. "Do you see?" he asked, running two of his fingers along the length of his forearm in emphasis. "I specialize in mechanical replacements for lost limbs. With your consent I can have you fitted with one as well," he moved over toward the lobster's side missing it's arm then, placing his mechanical forearm beside the boy's stump to help give him a visualization of what he meant. "But I need to be sure you understand. Do you?" ... And that's when the lightbulb clicked on. Both of Zachary's eyebrows raised as high as they were capable when he'd finally gotten a good up close look at Crunch's arm. He had been expecting to see a fresh open wound; but this appeared like a closed stump that had been healed over for some time now.

While most of the pangolin's words were getting through, Crunch was at a loss to make of them. Despite being incredibly tranquilized, he'd never considered losing limbs to be so problematic. By now he was probably starting to sprout a new pincer from his stub...

Zachary, meanwhile, was now massaging the bridge of his nose. Crustacean. He's a crustacean. he thought in irritation. Crustaceans are able to regenerate. What am I doing here?Rolling his sleeve back down, he gently reached for Crunch's regrowing arm to examine now that he knew it wasn't going to cause him harm. He sighed deeply. "... I'm terribly sorry, sir. It seems as though the staff has made a mistake. Given the nature of your species there's nothing that I can do for you. Hmm. Well, I'm going to ask you to stay here until your arm is fully grown back. Afterward I'll put in a request to have you taken down to X-ray just to be sure everything's in perfect working order... Let's see..." He groped at his chin for a moment, and then inspiration struck. "Ah yes, I'd also like to put in a request for some antibiotics to be given to you and a few blood tests ran... Just to be sure nothing contaminating got into your system while the wound was still open. Does that sound alright?"

Crunch's antennae perked at the promise of being freed soon. "YESH." He exclaimed, a long stream of drool still pouring out of his mouth.

Well, he wasn't sure just how intelligible that was, but, whatever. As long as he was happy and as long as the doctor could wash his hands of this whole mistake. As soon as he walked out of the room the lobster would be in the staff's hands. "Alright then..." He said, inwardly smiling slyly as he began to pull out a syringe and a test vial. "I'm going to take part of the blood needed now... A nurse will be in shortly after I leave to take a sample for the other tests..." And then he attempted to stick Crunch.

Crunch's antennae fell, then suddenly crumpled up in fear. Unable to scream properly with his mouth full of saliva, he began flailing wildly in his bed. "GAARAAJJJGGHAAAA." He'd begun flailing so severely that the bed was now hopping across the room, making a loud thud with every landing.

The pangolin stiffened. He was sure one of the staff members was going to come rushing in any second with all the racket the lobster was now making. "Sir--If--you--would--just--calm--down!" He grit his teeth and, using the strength in his mechanical hands, managed to pin Crunch's stump arm down long enough to draw blood into the syringe with the opposite. He only just managed to transfer the blood into the vial, dispose of it and tuck away his prize before one of the nurses came rushing in. "What's going on in here?!" She asked hurriedly, looking between the two. "All I did was mention having some blood work done!" Zachary said in defensive surprise, putting his hands up in front of him like a shield. "I had no idea he'd go so ballistic when he realized that meant a needle!" The nurse just screwed her mouth to one side and popped her jaw. "Shoot. That kid's been nothing but a pain since he was brought to this ward. ANNIE, HE'S ACTING UP AGAIN!" She called, rushing forward to try to calm the lobster down. Zachary took that as his moment to duck out of the room as the other nurse came rushing in.

The lobster struggled as two nurses held him down, while a third prepared a large tranquilizer. His screams slowed as the injection entered his arm, and began spreading through his system. Crunch slipped back into unconsciousness. With the floor now almost flooded with the beast's drool, one might wonder how such a small creature could produce so much.
