Finitevus nodded. "Very well." A few footsteps, a slide of the door, and he was gone. Not for very long however, as he soon returned with a couple of instruments in his arms and, oddly enough, a small stack of books balancing perfectly on his head. The pangolin stepped over toward Dash's side and began to set everything down. "I wasn't sure what sort of reading might interest you," he commented as he fiddled with what looked like a pair of binoculars. "I hope what I brought is satisfactory."

Dash eyed the stack of books balanced on the pangolin's head. ... Was he imagining things or was this guy really... weird? "Er... Anything is fine, thanks."

"Alright," he said, continuing to fiddle with the binocular-like device. Finally he handed it over to Dash. "Read the smallest line you can clearly see to me," he commented.

Taking the device, Dash peered through, lines of random letters appearing to him. "Last line... D, K, N, T, W, U..." and so on. Pause. "... wow, those are really small."

"Mmhmm," the doctor hummed, taking a clipboard and marking something down on it. "10/5. Very impressive," he commented. Taking the binoculars away and setting them down he then took what looked like a small timer and began to fiddle with it. "By the way, what did you think of your co-workers?"

"... not very talkative."

"Hmm, yes, some of them are like that I'm afraid..." the doctor said, continuing to fiddle with the device. After a moment he held it up for Dash to see. "This is going to flash a random sequence of numbers rapidly. I want you to tell me what those numbers are, or if you're able to see them at all. Starting... now." he clicked a button.

[dice=99][dice=99][dice=99] "51, 14, 39. ... 29. Sorry." That said, he turned away, clenching his eyes shut and rubbing at them. "Ow."[rand=51282313537282280703192503717469049632758802134713634484100797]

Checking the numbers, Finitevus grinned widely to himself. "Excellent," he said. "What you've just described to me flashed at a speed no normal person could have seen with their naked eyes... very, very good."

The tenrec continued to rub at his eyes. "... that's great... ... ... I have a killer headache... do you have anything I can take for that?"

"Ah, right, hold on a moment," the doctor turned toward the room's small sink, filling a plastic cup and grabbing a convenient bottle of aspirin from a drawer. He brought it over to Dash. "I'm very impressed with you're progress so far. At this rate you'll be able to join the others in no time."

"Great. I'd like to be back on my feet again." Taking the offered medication, he gulped the aspirin. "... join for what again?"

"The Dark Legion, of course. You're our new recruit, remember?"

Cue choking on a dixie cup of water. "WHAT?"

Finitevus merely frowned and arched his brow. "I know you were hit on the head, but surely I've already explained this by now, haven't I?"

One of the tenrec's brows was raised as well. "Refresh my memory."

The pangolin stared intently, his steely glare seeming to pierce straight through Dash. "Very well," he said with a sudden chill in his tone. "As you already know, my name is Dr. Finitevus. I am the founder and leader of the organization known as the Dark Legion. You came to me recently seeking to join, and I accepted." He paused, letting that hang in the air. "Am I right?"

Dash's eyes widened in surprise at the pangolin's rather cold look. After a moment, he simply nodded. "... yeah I guess that's right..."

"You guess, or you know?" Fini questioned. "The last thing I need is a flaky recruit."

Guess, or know? For a moment, a glassy eyed expression seemed to pass of the tenrec. He shook it off a moment later. "No... no, of course you're right." Why would he be wrong, afterall? He's... always right... ... where did that idea come from? ... oh well.

Finitevus seemed to relax slightly at this confirmation. "Very well. So long as you're aware of what you're getting into..." he extended a hand for the tenrec to shake, a wiry smirk on his face. "Welcome to the Dark Legion... again."

The tenrec shook the doctor's hand, nodding, though looking a slight bit confused. "Yeah, again... though I don't remember the first time so... I guess this works."

Fini shrugged. "Well, maybe something will get shook loose once you're out and about again. Anyway, I should give you a fair warning. It's mandatory that members of my organization have the insignia tattooed to their backs or shoulders. I'll have to see about having Lance come in here to handle that later..."

The confusion still hadn't left. "Oh. ... well, okay..." ... no really, when did I agree to this?? I mean, I must of... but..."... I still have that headache, so if I could just... rest of awhile that'd be great." ...and give me some time to figure this out...

The doctor nodded. "Very well. You know how to contact me should you need anything." Leaving the equipment he had brought on a nearby table, Finitevus turned and left the room. What Dash didn't get to see was the pangolin's wide and jagged toothed grin as soon as the door had shut behind him.
