"Thank you, Chocolate...say, why don't you lie down for a little bit?" Steady said, grabbing the remote from the table and handing it to Chocolate. "Help yourself to the television. I'll be right back." He made his way over to the toilet while the porcupine was once again by himself. |

Being alone in a stranger's home was just as unsettling now as it was several minutes ago, and acquiring the remote didn't do much to deter such feelings. Still, Steady had been nothing less than generous since they'd crossed paths -- and at a time when he could really use it. The offer to rest began to sound more appealing. Glancing quickly for a throw pillow, Chocolate stiffly adjusted his sore body into a reclining position, despite the protests of his injuries. He didn't really plan to go to sleep, but rather relax long enough to recover some of his energy. Naturally, the last thought he could remember before drifting off into slumber was not to conk out in someone else's home. |

The rabbit returned to find the porcupine snoozing away on the couch. Slowly inching over to him, he carefully took the remote that lain next to him and set it back down on the table. Taking great pains not to disturb him, he once again stepped back into the bathroom, this time to place a call using his cellular phone. "Boney?" Steady whispered. "Listen, I may be here for awhile. I don't wanna leave Chocolate alone—yes, my guest. That bloody fella. I'll call you when I'm ready, okay? Okay. See ya." Steady hung up his phone, and was perfectly content with sitting on the floor to watch a little television. His ear twitched suddenly: Steady had an urge to call Boney again. "And whatever you do, Boney, if you see a honeybee, about six or seven and dressed in orange, please, PLEASE, whatever you do, for heck's sake, don't give him any sugar!" |
