Anansi slowly came to, unsure where she was, but her last memory had been getting blasted by that damn robot that'd caught her last time! But... if that was the case, why was she still alive... and, if the one hand she was getting feeling from was right, in a hospital bed? The spider girl opened her eyes slowly, unsure of what was going to be in her view.

What she would be greeted with was the sound of singing - an upbeat, lively tune that seemed out of place for what she would quickly realize to be an operating room. " I can't decide whether you should live or die, oh you'll probably go to Heaven, please don't hang your head and cry..." There was the sound of metal instruments clinking against each other as well as the sound of wheels rolling, and a moment later Finitevus stepped into the spider girl's view. His brow arched and he gave a wide toothy grin when he realized she was awake. It should be noted that he was wearing a nurse's outfit. With a skirt. Oh, and the bed Anansi was laying on? She was strapped down to it.

Anansi took all of this in for a moment... the saw exactly WHAT Finitevus was wearing. "I... don't know whether to be terrified, disturbed, or both..." She made no attempt to try to free herself from the table, since for one, she was pretty sure half of it wasn't gonna listen to her anyway.

Finitevus just snickered, idly picking up a pair of scissors to open and close a few times. "No, no, no, that's not the line from the script! This is the part where you ask me what I'm going to do, then I tell you my master plan and you beg for your life!" He leaned over to place his elbow on the table, resting his cheek on the back of his hand, continuing to grin widely at her. "Unfortunately because of budget issues I couldn't get someone to play the sexy nurse. Do you think this skirt makes me look fat?"

The spider... was stunned. Just... that statement was so bizarre in this situation, she didn't know how to respond... She came to a decision quickly though with the realization she probably wasn't getting off this table alive... So she played along. "All right. What are you planning to do with me, Doctor?"

The pangolin giggled into his palm. "I'm sure you're quite concerned to know!"

Anansi sighed, shaking her head a little. "Well, unless your plan is to talk me to death, I'm wondering when you'll just get on with it."

The doctor's grin faltered. "Oh come on, is that the best reaction I'm going to get?"

The spider's face seemed to copy Fini's earlier grin, as she chuckles a little, before coughing harshly. "Sad to say, pretty much. I'm already half-dead, so why bother being scared, eh?"

Finitevus sighed and shrugged flippantly. "Touché, I suppose. Well, sweet dreams," With that, he began to hook her up to an anesthesia line.

Anansi took a deep breath, then drifted off, absolutely certain she wasn't going to be waking back up. If she only knew how wrong she was.

It was some hours later when Finitevus had finally stepped out of the operating room. Pulling his facemask and latex gloves off, he disposed of them, wiped at the sweat prickling over his brow and followed after Anansi as one of his assistant droids wheeled her down to an intensive care unit. As he walked alongside he looked down at her unconscious form and frowned slightly, his head canting to one side. He had been eager to test out this a new technology he'd been developing, and the spider dropping herself so 'willingly' into his lap made her the perfect test subject. Of course, the type of technology was considered controversial, but he was never one to allow such things to stand in his way. Especially not when it was in the name of research and development! While others in his field inched along in their progress, he was the pinnacle and leading expert in biomechatronics, and unlike his colleagues, he wasn't afraid to take chances. Here in the privacy of his own personal lab he didn't have to worry about such overbearing and pompous things as politics. In all honestly, though, he was truly surprised the girl had made it through her surgery at all. Now, what would really amaze him would be if she would make it through the next twentyfour hours, nevermind her even waking up, and if she did being in any coherent state. The idea of seeing her enhancements in action was simply absurd. It had easily been one of his most complex operations, and the first time he had preformed it on a sentient race. The outcome wasn't worth hoping for, and even as he studied her now he expected her to code blue at any moment. Alas, even leaps must be taken one at a time. Oh well, he thought. If she died it would mean one less problem for him and more research given. Always the silver lining. As they entered into the intensive care unit, Finitevus took to hooking her up to whatever extra equipment was important to keeping her monitored and stable. Should anything change in any way he would be alerted immediately. As soon as he was confident she was secure he began stepping off to get wash up and get changed. He had forgotten how tired he was, and as much as he would have liked to have just curled up in a nice comfortable chair and finally relax, there was still yet one other thing he had to take care of. Once washed up, Finitevus caught a yawn as he entered his lavishly decorated study, now clothed in a simple black lab coat. He took a seat at his computer and took a moment to settle himself in, entered the passcode that took it off standby, and... paused, staring at the screen. Several messages had been received, sent earlier from Heat. As Finitevus clicked up each and skimmed over their contents he found his fingers subconsciously curling tighter and tighter into a fist. "... That stupid robot." he hissed. And no sooner had those words left his mouth his eye twitched, and he clutched his forehead while resting his elbow on the desk. Yes. He definitely needed learn how to program a decent AI. As he finally reached the last message, however, his eyebrows perked up. Attached to it was photos and video footage of another pangolin. But that wasn't the interesting part. As he stared at the images he gave a sideways glance, unsure exactly of just what he was looking at. He could see her, he could see her tasmanian devil companion, and... he could see the rock forming from thin air that she was apparently able to control. He leaned back in his seat and puzzled. Ah, he finally concluded... An emerald ability. It must have been. An emerald would certainly be a useful thing to have a hold on, however, when the doctor noted the date the message had been sent he frowned. Far too long ago to take any action now, the girl and her emerald would likely have been long gone. With a resigned sigh, Finitevus responded to the message with a command for Heat to return home. With that unexpected annoyance out of the way, he began to get to the real reason he'd sat down for; verifying the name Anne Scarlet and researching both her and this Anansi the Web identity.

*CRASH*
Fini's research would be interrupted by what sounded like someone tearing up one of the nearby labs.m

Finitevus looked up when he heard the disturbance and frowned. Immediately he began switching his computer to check on the security systems in that area.

Eventually he would find an image of Inari tearing up his lab. Damn it to heck! Where ARE those parts!? he growled to himself, throwing things out of his way as he searched for the parts he needed to repair his eye. It didn't help that the damaged one was throwing off his entire visual display, giving him a massive headache in addition to the other minor injuries he'd picked up.

The pangolin just made an unamused face before switching on the room's speaker. "May I ask why you're making a mess of my expensive and delicate equipment?"

Inari immediatly whirled around to face the room's camera, his undamaged eye glowing brightly in anger. "Looking for something to fix my freaking EYE, that's what!"

Fini's voice remained calm. "Hmm. And you felt it was more logical to damage my property than to come to the person whom is capable of fixing it."

"Gee, why didn't I think of that!?" he asked rhetorically the claws of his right hand tearing gouges in the metal of the table next to him as he clenched his fish angrily. "I know, because I DID! I COULD fix it if I could find...the...DAMN...PARTS!!!"

From where he was sitting Finitevus frowned and massaged at his temple. He was not in the mood to deal with this. "I suggest you calm your temper now and address me with respect, or are you forgetting who you're talking to?" he spoke coldly, "Did it ever once occur to you that you could ask where the parts are?"

"It didn't actually...master," Inari said, forcing a dampner on his rage before he did something regrettable.

"Well then. I'll be there in a moment," Finitevus replied. From his study he stood and gave a long and frustrated glance at his computer. He had managed to get some research done before Inari arrived with his outburst, and had found it to be little more than vague and frustrating. It was clear he would need to dig deeper into his resources. With a snort he exited and headed toward his lab. "Alright, let's see what you've done..."

Besides various nicks, bruises and scrapes, the most obvious damage was that his left eye was shattered, and it seemed to be affecting the other as it would flicking in static every now and then.

Finitevus' brow quirked slightly when he finally got a good look at the wolf. "Good heavens. What happened?"

"There were some visitors at the base..." he growled, not wanting to mention that they were just a bunch of kids, albeit one did have a chaos emerald. "And it wasn't totally abandoned. I had an encounter with a robotic doll based on Miles Prower."

"Hmph. Figures. Did you at least find anything useful?" Finitevus muttered, pulling out a first aid kit and setting it down for the wolf to use. Thereafter he turned and began to search for the materials required for fixing his eye. After a moment he paused, frowning a bit. "... Hmm. You won't mind going without depth perception for awhile, I trust?"

"...Not so much in the way of supplies," he said after giving a nod to Fini's latter question. "But a bit of info, and possibly a new target for your toy." he said, refering to Heat.

Catching the wolf's nod out of the corner of his eye, Finitevus idly wondered if Inari had understood what he meant by his tame reaction. Moving away from where the optical devices were supposed to be, he turned toward the wolf fully and reclined back on his tail. "Oh? Do tell."

"Hmm. Heat showed me footage of someone who also apparently had an emerald on them earlier.." he paused, frowning. "Do you know where this mongoose is now, though?" And then, with another thought crossing his mind, "By the way. You wouldn't possibly know anything about someone who calls herself Anansi the Web?"
