He couldn't understand it. There just was no explanation for it. Ray had been completely fine all throughout the business at the G.U.N. base at Hill Top, but as they had made their way to civilization, he'd gradually begun to feel ill. Once the chameleon had been checked into the hospital and stabilized, he'd come to feel achey and nauseous. Now, his body (his head especially) seemed to reverberate with a deeply penetrating throbbing pain. The squirrel's hands shook near-uncontrollably, and his stomach churned rapidly despite the fact that he'd barely eaten. Something was definitely wrong, and for the life of him Ray couldn't understand what. All he knew was that he felt very slightly better if he layed curled up on the waiting room couch rather than sitting upright, and that's exactly what he did.

Midnight slowly wandered down through the hall and into the waiting room. Her eyes were glued to the floor and her arms and wings both folded as she had a look of deep contemplation on her face. When she finally looked up and noticed Ray curled up her face twisted with concern. "... Hey. Are you okay?" she asked, stepping up to him and giving him a poke on the shoulder.

Ray squinted open his eyes; the intense lighting of the hospital seemed to further aggravate his pounding migraine. " I... I think I need a nurse..." he replied lowly. " I can't explain it... I feel just... terrible."

"Hmm..." she thought to herself, by now having crouched down beside him to look at him at a closer eye level. "Yeah, hold on. I know what you need." She shoved a hand down into one of her pockets, and after a moment of fishing produced a small candy bottle that she handed to him. "Take a couple."

With a distressed grunt, Ray carefully pushed himself upright before taking the bottle. Its contents rattled noisily as he struggled to open it with his shaking hands. The squirrel frowned. WHAT could have possibly happened that would debilitate him so much?? Just as he was about to sheepishly ask for assistance, the cap exploded from the bottle, sending dozens of the candies flying about. "W-Whoops..." Ray stumbled, awkwardly and unsteadily grabbing for them. "I'm sorry!"

And she handed the bottle to him why? With a groan, she leaned down and began to pick them up. "It's alright. Spaz."

@yami@ Ray's hands continued to tremble as he attempted to gather the spilled candies. He started to return them to the bottle, until he recalled being instructed to eat several of them. The squirrel paused and looked over the items in his shakey palm; they were kind of... bean-shaped. Well, I'm sure Midi knows what she's doing. Maybe this is a medicine I take. Without questioning her, Ray gulped a handful of them down. He was surprised to find that they tasted rather chocolatey.
Shortly after having swallowed, the squirrel's eyes bulged slightly; he didn't realize it, after so long without caffeine, the reintroduction of the chemical to his body caused a bit of system shock. Anyone else might've had a harsher reaction, but after years of tolerance, the most Ray experienced was dialated pupils and an uncontrolled jittery shake.
"W-Wow," he commented to no one in particular. "I f-feel a l-l-lot bet-ter!!"

Midnight stared at him for a moment as she put the remaining few back into their bottle and then buried her face into her palm. "I said just a couple..." Sigh.
