Resson's eye twitched. "Wondrous. It would appear that there is misandry at work, seeing as how I didn't exactly get the star treatment." he scoffs and looks off the the side. "Of course, my dubious legal standing must not have helped much."

"Dubious legal standing?" Nicole inquired, though she pretty much knew what he was talking about.

Resson waved his hand dismissively. "I assure you I'm not so much working outside the law so much as above it."

Nicole blinked, so intrigued with that statement that she said, "Explain," before realizing how much like a machine she sounded, so she added, "...or can you at the moment?"

Resson thought for a moment. She seemed trustworthy, sure. But logically he had no reason to tell her anything, and it would pose far too much of a risk and outweigh any possible benefit. "No. All will be revealed in due time, I suppose."

Suddenly alarms began blaring throughout the base, distant at first, but growing louder as they activated all about the premesis. Rather than being startled, Resson grinned, rather amused. "Oh. I love this song." He begins to bob his head slightly back and forth in tune with the alarms.

Nicole started at the sound of the alarms but then calmed herself. Intruders? could they be here to rescue Resson? In that case, maybe she should lend them a hand. She closed her eyes for a moment, using her short range wireless link to access the base's computers, and a few backdoors she'd created when she'd 'infiltrated' the base. At once, the amount of alarms doubled, as the computer was being told that people were breaking in from every detectable point, thus creating confusion and causing them to spread their forces too thin if they tried to cover all the indicated areas.

Resson began looking about for some sort of video camera. "I think it's about time something like this happened. I was just about ready to die of ennui." He finds a video camera discreetly hidden up in the corner. "Ah! There you are. Hello." He waves weakly at it.

Resson nods and looks towards the door. "EVE, probably... Rush wouldn't bother." He sits back in the chair and leans back. He looks up at the ceiling idly. "Should be here any moment."

BAM. The lab's solid steel door suddenly sprouted a noticeable dent. There was a moment of silence before BAM, another dent appeared next to the first one. Then, finally, the door was completely blown off its hinges to fly through the air and slam into a bank of computers at the opposite end of the room, creating much electrical havoc as one of the monitors exploded and a CPU tower caught fire. The previously unseen side of the door was twisted and glowing with heat from the extreme forces that had been exerted upon it. It rested without protest on its new buzzing and popping bed of wrecked machinery, resigned to its new fate. Rush stepped proudly through the empty doorway, idly blowing smoke from the barrel of his plasma cannon. In his other hand, he held an unconscious G.U.N. soldier who'd tried to stop him, one of but a few that he and the other two members of his company had encountered. He carelessly tossed the human aside and strode further into the room, a smug smile on his face. Stopping in front of his father, he grinned and gave a two-fingered salute in an almost nonchalant way. "Hi Dad. Fancy meeting you here." Lovely conditions his father had been kept in. Was that a mainframe he'd just wrecked? Oh well, at least Resson appeared unhurt. Rush's eyes roamed the cramped quarters and noticed Nicole almost immediately. He raised both his eyebrows in surprise. His father, trapped inside a tiny room with a female as his only company? A list of possible explanations was compiled in Rush's CPU within nanoseconds, and some of them less than pleased him. It didn't help that the lynx appeared fairly attractive by organic standards, according to what data he had on the subject. In fact, taking a closer look at her, Rush was startled by how accurately she matched the beauty criteria. It was almost unnatural. .......Wait a second. Rush checked his radar again and did a sensor sweep. Yes, there was currently an extraordinary amount of electrical activity from within the room, but that could be attributed to a number of factors, including himself, EVE, Cyro, and the damaged computers. Furthermore, Resson himself might be producing the activity if the soldiers had not had the sense to search him and remove all gadgetry from his person. Another method of search was required. Rush stared at the female lynx, switching to heat vision. Though there was some interference from the electric fire and the white-hot detached door, he could still detect the unnatural amount of heat she was producing -- far more than an organic of her size and build should be able to. It likely wasn't noticeable to Resson, but to the corgi's delicate instruments, the difference stood out like a glaring neon sign. Rush's curiosity spiked. Who was this mysterious feline? All of this pondering over Nicole's identity had taken place within the timespan of a couple seconds. After a pause of another couple seconds (during which Rush formulated the best way to phrase a request for more information without appearing rude or nosy), he finally managed to ask, "...Who's your friend?"

Nicole "eep!'ed when the door was knocked in and ducked under a table to avoid debris. She slowly crawled out to see who had...'come knocking'. "Um...I'm Nicole...Nicole Soucie," she said in a calm but quiet voice before glancing at Resson. "You have children?" she asked him, hearing what Rush had called him.

"Yes, you can call them that." Resson grinned, looking back to Rush. "Excellent work. I knew you wouldn't fail me, Rush. And yes, this is Nicole - she was assigned to help me with the project I was kidnapped to work on." He holds a hand out to Rush. "Since we'll be making our exit now, I'd much like to have my pocket device back."

Rush continued to stare at the lynx girl, recording her name and image information together in his memory banks. Resson seemed unaware that the person he was standing next to might not be a person at all. This only made him desire even more to know who she was, and what her motives were for working with Resson and hiding her true identity. For another few fractions of a second Rush continued his wild speculation, adding the new bits of knowledge he'd learned about her to his theories accordingly. He began to weave hypotheses so extensive and complex that it was very improbable that they would be proven correct, but he was so engrossed in the task that he didn't care. One thing was sure, though; the majority of the hypotheses declared her to be an artificial being, so advanced as to have a design that rivalled his own. He stepped forward, approaching Nicole cautiously, as if afraid at any moment she might pull an Omega and change her arms into machine guns. But no such thing happened, and Rush was emboldened by this, quickening his pace until he was right in front of her. "Nicole, huh...?" He gave an eerie smile, one that seemed very unnerving on him of all people. Leaning forward slowly, he halted his metallic face mere inches from the tuft of fur at the top of one of her ears, and whispered at a volume only she could detect. "I would love to meet your creator." He pulled back quickly, giving the gynoid a wink and a fanged grin to assure her that the secret was safe with him. Then he opened his mouth to say something more, but was interrupted by Resson. The corgi froze, suddenly looking extremely awkward as he turned to face his father. His eyes glanced around shiftily, as if seeking some avenue of escape. "Oh...uh...pocket device?" He had a pretty good idea of what Resson was referring to. "Um......er......hmm, how to put this..." He nervously scratched the back of his head, a gesture he'd seen be performed in TV. "It, uh, kinda...broke." He winced.

Nicole blanked for a moment as she dealt with a new sensation, which she quickly realized was terror. Apparently her disguise wasn't perfect, and her mission was compromised. However for whatever reason, the corgi didn't seem to be revealing her true nature to Resson, so she decided she could still proceed for now. She got up and stood nearby as Rush and Resson talked.

Resson sighed. "Of course it broke. I would have gotten off far too easy otherwise." He tried not to think about how creepy what Rush did before saying that was. Instead he turns his attention to the gaping hole in the wall. "Are Eve and Cyro here? I do hope they both survived the raid all right... That much couldn't be said for Merce, however..."

it was around this time EVE also made her way into the room, hand still formed into the energy blade. She paused for a before she quickly placed herself between Resson and Nicole. Having no Data on the lynx woman and being behind enemy lines, EVE defaulted the clasification as hostile and slashed the blade towards nicole. [dice=6] Rush promptly intercepted the strike, grabbing hold of EVE's forearm to restrain her. "Knock it off lady, she ain't hostile," He told her calmly. "Run a scan -- do you see any weapons on her?" He turned to look at Nicole, and gave another sinister wink and grin. "Sorry about that, she's a bit excitable sometimes. Probably gets it from Dad." "Speaking of whom..." Rush turned and looked at Resson. "You never mentioned what was up with this robogirl in your message." He tugged on the arm he was holding to indicate he was referring to EVE. "Care to explain?" He frowned suddenly. "And what was that about Merce?"[rand=293242841825853809069885098572705103741719355874526150509485378504]

Having already given a gesture to call off Eve, Resson turns over to Rush. "I'm sorry I neglect to tell you things. That's Eve, and I found her rampaging on the street one day.. I 'adopted' her, so to speak, before you were finished with your battle upgrades. I actually based some of your upgrades on her weapons systems, in fact." He turns to Cyro. "You were gone for a long time... I built Cyro while you were away. Unfortunately he didn't have long before GUN invaded and I was taken hostage..."

Given the gesture to stand down from the commanding unit, EVE immediately ceased her attack on Nicole, her arm retracting back into it's normal form. Ignoring the others in the room she looks down to Resson. "This unit recommends immidiate leave of current hostile location."

Rush went rigid as his father explained himself. Did this mean Cyro was his replacement? It was not a nice thought, at all, and it made such a surge of emotions power through him that it destabilized his gyros and made him feel queasy. He can't even fight! Rush growled in his mind, sending a brief glance in Cyro's direction. How could father replace ME with such a useless model? Inconcievable!Still, he managed to keep most of the snger and hurt feelings out of his voice when he said, "I agree with Miss Enthusiasm here. We can talk later when there isn't a military base after our heads." Speak of the devil...the sounds of many running feet echoed down the corridor beyond the lab, getting louder as their owners drew near. The re-enforcements had arrived. "Snap," Rush hissed, forming a plasma buster with his right arm. "Everyone take cover. I'm going in!" He leaped out into the hallway, cannon blazing. And he was promptly not met with a hail of bullets...but rather, a stream of fire. The soldier manning the flamethrower grinned. "Hot enough for ya?" Rush put a plasma shot through his throat. "Shut up." Damn, now he was on fire...and his systems weren't very happy about it. Heat did not mix well with machinery, it seemed. Still, Rush was always one to turn such a problem into an advantage. With a roar he tackled the next group of soldiers before they could fire, using his white-hot fists to do the dirty work instead of his projectiles. Lt. Steve Benson wished for the umpteenth time that he had not gotten out of bed today. He watched the carnage up near the front of his unit, his expression grimming when the crazy dog robot tried a full frontal assault. He glanced around, noticing one of their members was absent. "Where the devil is Murphy?!" He demanded. "Sir!" One of the grunts next to him paused his shooting for a moment to respond. "He said he's on his way, but got delayed by blockage in the south tunnel. Apparently something collapsed the cieling over there." Benson opened up his radio channel. "Murphy, hurry your ass up or I swear to God I will give you latrine duty for a month when this is over!" "Yes sir!" Came a hasty response from the other end. "I'm en route, sir!" Benson opened up another comm channel to the rest of his unit. "Keep pushing forward boys. They're trapped and outnumbered; we can have this wrapped up in time for dinner." There was a chorus of affirmatives and one gurgling death cry, as Rush moved on to his next victim. "Dammit," Benson hissed. "Someone do something about that crazy robot S.O.B.!" And do something they did...as a richochet punched a hole clean through his left arm. "AAAARGH!" Rush shrieked in pain, falling back to the lab room and firing from the doorway with his right arm. His left sparked and fizzled, hanging uselessly at his side...apparently the bullet had punctured the delicate mechanisms that allowed it to change shape into arm-cannon mode. He wouldn't be using it for shooting any time soon. Rush spent a valuable second glancing behind himself at the rest of the room's occupants. "EVE, it's your turn! Give 'em hell!"

(Note: Currently listening to the Advent Children remix of One Winged Angel. In light of this, badassery may occur in this post. You have been warned.) But it was not EVE who attacked next. It was the "harmless" porcupine robot. Though he had seen Rush's reaction to Resson's words, that was not the reason he was attacking. The reason is that he had finally found what he had been digging for - his combat programming. And before he was even aware of what he was doing, he was using it. His claws extended, seeming to become sharper and deadlier. And he used them. The green android was like a whirlwind admist the soldiers, slashing, hacking. And they shot him, they burned him. Even the shots that hit didn't stop him. They slowed him, maybe. But not by much. Pain was blotted out in his mind. There was only his family, under his protection - and the enemy. He didn't stop until no one was standing. Regardless of whether they were dead, or incapacitated, or even hurt at all. They weren't standing, and that was all that mattered. He stopped, and seemed to return to normal, panting and leaning over. Trembling, too. His claws retracted to their normal size, but he didn't notice the blood. Yet. "F-father... ... how was I..." ((How badly the forces are hurt are up to you, Stoney. But pleast not just "I, CYRO, WILL KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN!" I want him to actually have done some good damage ; ; ))

Resson blinked and staggered backward a little; he wasn't aware that Cyro would be able to unearth his own weaponry system. He would normally have taken the time to explain what they were to be used for and then activate them himself... He nods solemnly. "Excellent, Cyro... that is the power I gave you. Use it wisely." As Cyro (and likely EVE) move to the front lines, Resson pulls Rush backward a bit. "You need to be a bit more careful, Rush." He takes cover behind a desk and grabs some of the tools he was using before, hastily beginning to repair his arm as he explained himself. "Cyro was built to be your new melee fighting partner, as Flex has wandered off without any warning. We'll try and find him after we get out of this mess."

((Damn, Sipp, your post and Riyami's haven't really left me much choice at all in the matter.)) Rush was more or less stunned into silence by Cyro's sudden and violent display of power. He stood there unmoving, jaw slack, as the green robot quickly and effectively made mincemeat of the entire squadron that had been attacking them. Even as Resson pulled him aside and began his repairs, the robocorgi didn't seem fully there. His wide eyes stared off at something unseen; had his face contained blood, it would have been drained of it. And then Resson mentioned Cyro's purpose. Rush was suddenly snapped back to reality as indescribable relief flooded him. So Cyro wasn't his replacement, but rather Flex's. Thank goodness for that. ...Still, the fact that his brother had been replaced did create something of a cold clenching feeling in Rush's gut, as power was rerouted from his lower extremities to his upper half to assist the arm repairs. "Flex...?" He mumbled with a troubled expression on his face, not really paying any attention. He turned his head away from his father, not sure if he wanted to look at him right now. "We found him on the way here. He seemed fine enough...I had to distract him so we could get here faster though. He would've slowed us down, since EVE can only carry so many people while using her jets." he glanced back up at the door. "Right now he's probably playing with his snake somewhere." Private first class Daniel Murphy was in a panic. He'd finally been able to maneuver his mech around the blockage in the hallway when he'd used a low-yield explosive round on it. It had been a risky maneuver since further concussions could collapse even more of the structure right on top of him, but hey, desperate times and all that. He was just glad he'd had the foresight to bring one of the explosives with him in the first place. Sweat pouring down his face, he glanced down at the controls for the G2S-45 "Big Foot MkII" for the fourth time that minute. It was an upgraded version of an old walker design G.U.N. had once tried to capture Sonic the Hedgehog with; no longer sporting missiles or any hover ability, the engineers had instead filled the space those parts left behind with rechargable battery packs for the laser blasters on the shoulders and stocks of ammunition for the machine guns that were placed on the arms to either side of the cockpit. The legs had been greatly improved with a new spring-loaded system that allowed for higher and faster jumping ability, and two rockets on the backside would gave up to ten seconds of mach speed before running out of fuel; not much, but enough to get in that crucial hit to decide a battle. It was all designed to improve maneuverability as a precaution against another agile opponent like Sonic, but Murphy was finding it to be rather inefficient at brute force, which he desperately needed a few minutes ago to punch through that debris. Still, he couldn't deny the R&D team had outdone themselves as he used quick half-second spurts of the rockets to weave his way through the winding corridors of the base as fast as was safe. He'd lost contact with his unit two minutes ago; multiple attempts to hail their frequency had been met with nothing but static. Murphy feared the worst, recalling that there had been sounds of battle in the background when he'd last been contacted by Lt. Benson. He gripped the mech's controls in white-knuckled fists, willing it to move faster as he bore down on his unit's last known position. Come on, you stupid piece of tin, move faster...He watched his radar like a hawk, spying multiple enemy dots on it incoming rapidly. He began to slow the Big Foot MkII down, finally arriving at a corner in the hallway beyond which he was certain his unit lay in some condition or another. He gasped for breath, his body trembling with a sick mixture of fear and excitement, as he edged the massive machine around the corner. Murphy paled. "God, no--!" He choked down the bile that threatened to surge up his throat and splatter all over his uniform. The sheer carnage of the scene was more traumatic than any other battlefield situation he'd yet experienced; the dead gaze of Lt. Benson's severed head burned into his mind to never be forgotten. What manner of monster could have done such a thing? Murphy steeled himself. There had to be survivors. There had to be. he refused to let himself believe otherwise. Those other men and women he'd fought with for god-knows-how-long now...they couldn't be dead, no, not all of them. The thought was just so horrendous that he refused it even the honor of existing. There ahead of him were several robots...one of them with blood plainly dripping from its claws. Murphy clenched his teeth as tears came to his eyes, and he switched on the external loudspeaker. "YOU BASTARDS!" He screamed, arming all of the mech's weapons and preparing it for an all-out assault. First he'd kill these murderers, and then he'd help whoever was left alive...if there was anyone to help...no, no, there had to be! There HAD to! Eyes flaming a dull red, Murphy targeted the closest target, some sort of unidentified gynoid, and let loose with a volley of machine gun rounds. [dice=6][rand=295912859889642821050725838744533076658136186901658376525710572065]

[dice=6] A small signal on EVE's scanners and the angered Yell of the pilot gave the unidentified Gynoid a heads up to the oncoming mech, but the immediate hail of bullets gave her barely enough time to do little more than form her arm into the energy blade and shield herself from the onslaught. A loud symphony of ricochet metal and a few sparks of impact filled the narrow corridor. With one arm disposed for defensive purposes, EVE reached back to one of the Broken slabs of metal that was once the heavy door to the detainment area and tore it from it's frame, hurling it down the hallway at the oncoming Mk II.
