The phoenix's features remained firm as a rock while watching the footage. In his heart, he realized that Jonas had violated some laws... but even the lawyer himself wasn't completely positive where exactly the defendent's true intentions were. His intuition told him that he probably wasn't just along for the ride, but at the same time, attempted murder seemed a bit of a stretch -- especially after having watched the video. Wright's keen attention to detail picked up on a couple of nuances that would probably be overlooked by the prosecution, the judge, and the press. Even so, he had a conflict of his own to deal with: should he fight to get Jonas cleared of ALL charges, just out of being a defense attorney? Should he subject him to the consequences of the fine print of the law, just out of being a lawyer? Or should he act in the favor of what he felt was real justice, which was his motive for ever attending law school? The avian's eyes darted to the prosecution's bench, and several of his feathers ruffled beneath that blue blazer. That man had no respect for the law; he was a known TERRORIST, for Chaos' sake! To even see the doctor standing in a courtroom and claim to be ensuring that justice would be served made Wright's blood boil (which says a lot for someone that tends to spontaenously combust). He would have to choose, and choose quickly: Defense, law, or justice?

In spite of the overwhelming evidence in his favor, Eggman grew quiet after watching the video. Victory seemed imminent, but somehow he seemed serious, and almost... sad? He looked at Metal steadily before breaking away and clearing his throat. "I believe this evidence is conclusive. Your thoughts, Your Honor?" Eggman drummed his fingers on his desk slowly.

The judge, for the most part, appeared to be... rather surprised at this sudden turn of events. "... Oh my goodness. That... yes, I have to say, that is... rather compelling... My word, the robot. He... Did he...? Oh, dear..." The judge still seemed unable to get over the display that had just been shown to the entire court... perhaps this was as good an opening for Wright as it was gonna get. ... The judge hadn't proclaimed any form of judgment, or commenced with the gavel-pounding yet, after all...

"I doubt it," Wright replied with a sudden smirk, "because you just proved my client's innocence!"

"Excuse me?" Eggman growled. "Listen, phoenix. You've dragged this on long enough. To claim that your client is innocent in the face of decisive evidence is unforgivable. Wright, I was there. I've known all along, for a fact, that Jonas Lans is guilty! To claim he's innocent is madness! Mark my words, you WILL regret this..."

CUE THE MEGA AWESOME TURNABOUT MUSIC. The phoenix's sudden claim had brought the kit out of his stupor brought on by what he had seen in the video, and had his fists clenched and eyes burning brightly in excitement. ALRIGHT! Chaos, this is soo cool!

The judge stared blankly in the direction of the avian defense attorney, quirking one eyebrow in complete perplexion. "I-innocent, Mr. Wright...? I'd say that this evidence has done the complete opposite of what you say! T-this video is concrete proof that... that... your client attempted to bring an end to the prosecution...!" Cue the dramatic pause... until the phoenix's rebuttal, actually. To be perfectly honest, even the judge could see that determined gleam in Wright's eyes... Something big was about to go down. He could feel it in his beard. "..."

((Tails portions written by Topy)) "I'm sure at first glance it seems that way," Wright confidently replied, "but if you pay closer attention, you'll see what I saw in that video." The phoenix turned to the eager kit. "Tails, would you mind bringing us back to the beginning of the file?" The kit nearly collapsed as he felt the blood rush though his arteries when he was spoken to- and with his preferred name! "S-sure!" the fluffy fox stammered excitedly, and, within moments, the feed was miraculously at the beginning of the whole episode. This had to be just the coolest thing ever, especially since he still couldn't tell if Mr. Wright was bluffing again or not. "Your honor, I'd like to direct your attention to the initial screen itself. This video feed is showing footage of a battle already in progress," the attorney announced, pointing at the screen with a feathery finger. "Although Jonas Lans is obviously a participant, this video is hardly a documentary of the defendent's time on the base. There is clearly a significant amount of time unaccounted for. That having been said, it's impossible to know from this video alone who was the aggressor here. For all this court knows, Mr. Lans was attacked by one of Eggman's many, many robots first -- and given their track record, this seems likely -- and chose to defend himself with the available equipment rather than to simply be a victim." Wright turned to Tails a second time. "Would you mind forwarding the video a bit, Mr. Prower?" Tails nodded, biting his lip in anticipation. The video began to fast forward, quickly enough to get through without too much waiting, but not so fast as to not even see what was going on, or stop inaccurately. "Aaaaand... Stop," the phoenix coached, allowing the video to resume rolling during Jonas' and Eggman's argument. "This in particular caught my eye, because the defendent and the prosecutor get completely sidetracked on a totally unrelated event. If Jonas Lans' intention was cold-blooded murder, why take a time-out to give your mark a verbal lashing? Especially when said target is on the ropes. As far as I'm concerned, all this proves is that my client has lost his temper -- understandable, given his situation -- and he's begun taking his frustrations out on Dr. Eggman via a shouting match. If Jonas had been out for blood, he'd have simply done it, rather than give Eggman the opportunity to summon more defenses. "Skip ahead one more time," he then instructed Tails. "Just a little bit farther..." "Can do!" Tails chirped, moving the tape foward once again, until he was told to stop. If what Wright had been explaining so far actually worked... if the judge agreed and the prosecution didn't have a good rebuttal... Eggman would probably try to sue HIM for running off with his big mouth to the entire city... or at least to those who weren't watching this epic showdown anyway. "Hold it there, Tails," Wright instructed when Omega appeared on-screen. "I think this is a pretty critical point to consider. This is the only point that I would personally label as a 'muder attempt', and as everyone can clearly see, it is not Mr. Lans conducting the assault. It's the doctor's own robot turning on him." The phoenix paused to eye the prosecution's bench. "You said yourself that it would take 'a genius of a programmer' to tamper with your systems, Eggman. You said that in this very courtroom today. Jonas Lans may have been Omega's mechanic, but based on your own testimony, it's doubtful that Omega's programming has been tampered with. A mechanic builds and repairs moving parts; he doesn't tell those parts how to behave." Returning his attention to the judge, the attorney leaned onto the defense's table with both hands, failing to slam them down for once. "While it's exceedingly obvious that my client is on the hook for a few more trifling accusations, such as tresspassing and property damage, the presented evidence cannot prove that he had murderous intent. A defendent is assumed innocent of their charges unless their guilt is proved beyond a reasonable doubt. I think the flaws of the file in Metal Sonic's database cast more than enough doubt to dismiss the charge of attempted murder."

"..." ... That was all the judge was able to get out the entire time Wright had presented his argument. The video had definitely made a lasting impression on the elderly man, and his expression showed it. He was more than likely about two seconds from picking up the gavel and slamming it... before the phoenix cut in to make some points here and there, of course... And so, the judge gave the bird his chance. And listened... and listened... and listened harder still. The gears were beginning to turn in his head; This was the part... ... where the judge began to get serious. It was, indeed, the final stretch, and though it was probably very well the end of the line for Jonas (at least, till the end of the sentence provided, anyway), the situation was possibly to be less dire than it had been since the moment the mechanic had been escorted into the courtroom... The man cleared his throat. "Mr. Wright... you have... once again presented a suitable argument... Logically, we cannot tell if Mr. Jonas had arrived on the scene with the pure intent to murder Mr. Eggman in cold blood. For all this court knows, the doctor himself could have fired the cannons first, so to speak... Your point regarding the pause for speech is also quite sound, as... Ninety-nine out of a hundred times, a criminal seeking such an act will not halt in his activities to argue with the one whom he is attacking... And his profession, while suitable for fixing all things mechanical, does not really call for the qualifications that he know about the software within the object he is to repair... The points, while few, are enough to convince me..." He grabbed the gavel, and began to tap it against the palm of his opposing hand... "... that, perhaps, the court cannot find the defendant guilty of murder... However, the charges of property damage, trespassing, and the one or two minor charge... still remain strong against your case... Which will, in turn, result in a much lesser sentence than would originally have been handed down..." The judge looked ready to slam that gavel. It looked like he was ready for it all to be over. It really has been a very long day... "Before I pass my judgement... Does the prosecution... have one last thing to say...?"

Eggman stared. The look on his face was one of utter annoyance. Not the anger of defeat, not the triumph of victory... simple annoyance. "Your Honor... Wright..." Eggman spoke softly, folding his hands. "How dare you bother me with such a faulty argument?!" Eggman slammed his fist on the table. "Number one, there was plenty of time to argue! I had disarmed him! He was the one who went after me, not the other way around! Number two, of course he had begun the fight! Do you think I would have allowed him to gain access to one of my machines if I had started it?! Number three, he states clearly in the midst of the battle that I will 'pay for what I did to Station Square'! Clearly he has some thought of taking justice into his own hands, and vigilantism is a crime! Number four, why would I ask him what his motives were if I attacked him first? Number five, even if he WASN'T trying to kill me, and these points clearly demonstrate something on the contrary, he was still assisting Omega, and his proper course of action would have been to dismantle the perpetrator or report the attempt! This makes him an accomplice, and, in the eyes of the law, being an accomplice to a murder attempt is far more than a 'minor offense'! "Let's re-examine the facts, shall we? Jonas Lans broke into my secret base, along with a murderous robot. Omega makes no secret of his intentions, so it's safe to assume he was aware of his plan. Since Jonas clearly, as he stated earlier, was helping his 'friend', he obviously knew what Omega intended. Jonas then, somehow, gained control of one of my machines- something I would not have allowed him to do if I had started the fight. He shouted taunts that essentially amounted to 'I will bring you to justice!', and, clearly, he didn't intend on arresting me. He then stated that his intentions were made clear during the fight - which means that the most obvious conclusion is the right one. He then went on to neither apprehend nor notify anyone about someone who DID have a murder attempt, caught on video. "Oh, and one last thing... Just a... minor little detail, that I thought you might find interesting. Did you happen to notice that the Egg Viper burst into the room at the beginning of the video?"

"If you want to personally make assumptions, Dr. Eggman, then that's your right, but don't waste this court's time with them! The burden of proof is on you, the prosecutor, so unless you can prove your claims, then don't even bother to present them!" Wright's jacket began giving off a few whisps of smoke again as he said, "You said yourself you wanted to re-examine the facts, so I suggest you stick to only the facts. This court has already ruled that Jonas was NOT in on Omega's intentions, and was simply along for the ride. It's also been ruled upon that Jonas had no reason to believe that Omega, and whatever party he decided to bring, wouldn't be permitted on the premesis, given that he's YOUR property. You may disagree with that ruling, but that's what the judge has decided on, so I suggest you respect it. Until you can miraculously prove what conversations did and didn't take place long prior to this incident even occurring, it would make you look less foolish to keep those assumptions to yourself. "Now, let me ask you something, doctor... Just how onmipotent do you really think you are?" the phoenix sneered, clearly disgusted with the other attorney's arrogance. "If it's so unquestionably within your power to not 'allow' Jonas into one of your vehicles, for whatever reason, then why isn't it in your power to not 'allow' your own piece of property to attack you? It may have been your turf, but as this incident clearly shows in and of itself, you're not in control of everything; not by a long shot. The fact of the matter is, no one can prove exactly why Jonas got into that machine. The only thing that can be proven is that he was in it. You say he was hostile, I say he was protecting himself, but neither of us can prove our claims." The attorney folded his arms, the smoke trickling from the cuffs of his blue sleeves gradually dying off. "And in a case where the prosecutor cannot prove his claims, the presumption of innocence prevails." Wright fell silent for a moment then, simply staring into the defense table. When he finally opened his beak again, he lowly said, "Look, no one is accusing you of being the aggressor, either. If you want to know my personal opinion, everything we're arguing about is probably Omega's fault. I do believe you were ambushed, but by your own robot. I think that much is far beyond a reasonable doubt based on the video evidence." The phoenix's eyes then rose to the judge. "However, no one can conclusively prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, who was an aggressor to whom. Maybe Mr. Lans did come looking for trouble. Maybe he got caught in the crossfire when Omega took matters into his own hands. No one can definitively prove either statement -- not myself, not Eggman. All anyone can prove about this is that, at some point during the debacle, Jonas Lans ended up piloting one of Eggman's mechs and engaged in the battle." Wright turned and glanced at the defendent at his side. "I can't tell you if he was looking to be a vigilante or lost his temper in a bad situation. Jonas hasn't said one way or the other -- which is his privilege. He didn't even have to take the stand earlier, if he didn't want to." The attorney shrugged. "I don't know that he lost his temper in a shouting match with Eggman and started bellowing any frustration that came to mind. I simply have to presume as much, because no one's proven otherwise. As much as the prosecution wants to talk about Jonas 'making his motives clear', that statement, ironically, does not clarify anything. A confession of motive would've been a statment like 'I came here to kill you', not something so ambiguous as to be taken any given way depending on the light. "Sorry, doctor," the phoenix said with a quick glance, "but you can't prove your case. You can present an argument around some circumstantial evidence, but you can't prove it beyond reasonable doubt. And under the law of 'innocent until proven guilty', if there's any reasonable doubt, the presecution is discredited -- especially on a charge so serious as murder. ..." Wright rubbed his forehead then. If Eggman's tactics were consistant, he was simply going to respond with another twisted version of the facts and present a counter-argument full of negative assumptions, and blatantly ignore the judge's previous rulings. It was quite possible that they could end up going in the same circle over and over until one of them simply ran out of breath. I've made my points, he silently coached himself. I don't need to keep making them ad nauseum because the prosecutor is too stubborn to listen. All that matters is the JUDGE hearing them. With that in mind, the phoenix took his seat next to Jonas and announced, "Your honor, the defense rests."

The judge looked as though he had been having a very difficult time. Indeed, after hearing both of the sides battle it out right in front of him with their own facts, evidence, conjectures and the like, he came to his own conclusion that each side had presented very sound points... However, the judge thought to himself as his eyes fell upon the defendant sitting at Wright's bench, It matters not who I believe to be -right-. What matters most is the truth of the situation; the facts, the evidence, and which way I believe the signs to be pointing towards...The bearded gentlemen let out a very lengthy sigh as he leaned forward in his chair, hands clasped together and placed on the surface of his desk... He eyed both the prosecution... and then the literally hot-headed defense attorney... He stared at one, then the other, then back again as the gears inside of his bare dome churned rapidly... Then finally, he sat up, a hand grasping onto the handle of his gavel, as if it had been weighted down severely... The gravity of the situation seemed dire as he made ready to pronounce his judgement... "Both sides, in this case, have fought very well... It has been ages since I last bore witness to such a heated battle in the courtroom... And as much as I hate for this to be, there will be only one successor here, one which will heavily determine the fate of he who comes here in defense today..." The man cleared his throat before he raised his gavel... and rubbed the side of his face with the mallet. (Get on with it already!) "I have decided upon this key truth; Jonas Lans, the defendant, has indeed trespassed illegally on private property, played a key role in sustaining property damage alongside this 'Omega', and is also seen as an individual who may have attempted to bring bodily harm upon the owner of that property. However... I cannot say that the charge of attempted murder would do... However, the charge of aggravated assault would go along with this very well... Mr. Jonas Lans..." The judge sighed. It was hard to believe that such a long day was about to finally come to an end... "This court finds the defendant, Mr. Jonas Lans... Guilty of trespassing, property damage, thievery, and aggravated assault. I am very sorry, defendant. As I am to you, Mr. Wright. But this is what all that has been presented is telling me, and I will see to carrying out justice as is expected of me." SLAM went the gavel... "The defendant will be brought before the court on the ordained date following this trial to receive his sentence. That is all." The judge stood up, and began gathering his things, but not before slamming the gavel one last time... "Court... is -adjourned-...!"

Jonas sighed. He knew it was an inevitable outcome that he'd be found guilty of SOMETHING among the charges, but he still couldn't help feel a little bitter at the injustice of it all. After all, the man at the prosecution table had committed much worse acts, and was still getting away with them. Still...at least there might be a chance that he'd have time to get that cup of coffee with that girl... He turned to Wright and extended a hand. "Well...I'm glad you tried. At least it was one heck of a fight." May watched impassively from where she was sitting. She was calculating what father's possible sentence might be...and what it might mean for her future operational status.

Eggman grinned at the verdict. Granted, he hadn't gotten everything that he had wanted, but he had made his point. He began speaking under his breath. "Those are no light crimes... And having commited so many of them at once, surely there will be no light sentence! I've won..." Resting his chin on his thumb and finger, Eggman thought back to the decision that robots are considered property. And considering how widely publicized it was... "But what has this trial set in motion?" There was a slight cough to the doctor's left, and the swift motion of a snarky comment immediately after. "The first victory in your hands innnn the history of ever?" "Bah! Insolent little pest. I've had more victories than..." Eggman turned and blinked. "Sonic?! Wh-what are YOU doing here?!" The hedgehog merely grinned up at the doctor, giving a short little wave before resuming the usual crossed-arms pose. "Standing, looks like. Also, I came to make a pick-up run. Seems my little buddy got dragged away from some important business way out here for this little show." He glanced over towards the fox and gave a slight tilt of his head. "You alright over there, Tails?" Eggman grumbled to himself. "Well, we'll settle this later. In the meantime..." Eggman sketched down something on a piece of paper and handed it to the judge. "I assume the court will confiscate Omega soon. As Omega's inventor, here are my notes and reccomendations. That is all."

Metal's eyes grew wide and flickered briefly, momentarily frozen to his spot. He knew that voice. Slowly his eyes slid over toward Eggman's direction... and his sense of dread crashed into the ground leaving debris scattered everywhere. Sonic. Could this day possibly get any worse? A long, low and furious growl of warning escaped the metallix at this point, but he otherwise remained motionless in his reclined position. He eyed Sonic like a hawk.

Tails waved and smiled at Sonic, somewhat surprised that the headgehog had suddenly appeared here. Then again, Sonic was probably looking for him right after he got kitnapped, so he should have figured Sonic would wind up in Station Square at one point. And honestly, he was quite relieved for Sonic to be there, as the kit was angered and mulling over the loss of the case. Sure, Jonas got off easy, but he was the one who went digging through Metal's memory. And then, when Metal started growling menacingly, the kit jumped and ran back away from the metallix, fur puffed up and in a defensive position. Yeah. He'd been doing that a lot lately. "... Can we leave now?" Tails asked plaintively.

With a nod to the judge and a handshake to his client, Wright calmly collected his documents and carefully stacked them into his briefcase. It was never pleasant to lose a case, let alone an especially bitter one, but he could at least put it behind him knowing he'd exhausted every possible avenue. Jonas may not have gotten off completely clean, but he most certainly had dodged a bullet. Wright ignored the hubbub at his side as Sonic arrived to whisk his two-tailed pal away. It had been a very long and tedious trial, and the phoenix still had more work yet ahead of him. "If you need anything," he said to the squirrel while clasping his briefcase shut, "just give my office a call." With that, the famed ace attorney made his exit from the courtroom.

Jonas glanced over to where Eggman was trying to get Omega confiscated. "Got some suits of impenetrable armor for a SWAT team?" he muttered. He made a note to himself to tell Omega, or to have May tell him, that he'd have to leave for a while. Whether the robot would or not was out of his hands, but if he did it'd probably be best for all involved, even Eggman, though he'd probably burst a vessel over losing Omega again. May slipped through a crowd, and right past Sonic, to get to Jonas. "Will we be returning home now, father?" He managed to avoid wincing at her term for him. If he ever had time, he'd find a way to make her stop. Last time he included a dictionary program as part of programming. He'd thought it would save time in having to explain things to her, but she'd obviously taken the definition of father to heart. "..I'm not really sure. Possibly, though we'll probably have to get past the media circus there's bound to be outside." Speaking of the media. The few reporters and news people that had been seated in the back of the courtroom were already leaving to get set up outside, not knowing what they'd find there, except one, who was careful not to let Sonic or Tails see her directly as she lingered in the back.

"...!" The judge took the document that was just handed to him by the doctor, something he hadn't of expected, given that he was about to leave the room. He eyed the document in question, and nodded, putting it into a file he was carrying regarding the closed case. "Hmm.. Yes, I will disclose these to the proper authorities regarding the robot. Thank you for your cooperation, doctor." With that said, the judge left the room, discreetly surprised that he actually gave thanks to a madman who was out to control the world someday... (( Mini-Collab by the me and the miss Topaz. w00t. )) The blue dude was, in the meantime, giving Tails a thumbs up in response to the fox's inquiry about whether or not they could head back. But not before, in response to the hissing Metal, Sonic looked right at him, and uttered something for the metallic copy to 'hear'... "Psst. Metal. I think you sprung a leak. Might wanna look into it before you end up becoming even less like me than you already were. Buddy~." He then promptly put a foot up on the prosecution's table, and propelled himself over to where Tails was located, landing neatly next to him, followed by a pat on the shoulder. "Can we head out? That's why I was here! Unless I missed somethin', and you just got indicted for somethin' you didn't tell me about...? In which case, I kiiinda can't bring y' back..." He was just teasing. ... Maybe. "Ha ha." Tails said dryly, still eyeing Metal with a hint of fear. "Well, let's hurry to the docks. I don't wanna think of what could happen to that mongoose girl if we stall any longer." The hedgehog blinked, as if recalling something, triggered by the words of his foxpal. "Oh, yeeeeah, that reminds me..." With another kick, and a somersault in the air, the hedgehog landed right... onto Eggman's shoulders, leaning down to peer at him upside-down. "Wouldja mind talkin' to me about your confiscating of a mongoose gal by the name of Mina? Don't play any mindgames with me; You know I'll just run circles around ya anyway!" And so, he waited. With that grin on his face, of course. And Tails stayed put as Sonic 'went over' to talk to Eggman. He was tense though, as Sonic's in-your-face hijinks more often than not led to a fight with the megalomaniac. And with Metal seemingly enraged by Sonic's mere presence, Tails wasn't going to take any chances.

All of a sudden there was a brilliant flash of light, and the weight on Eggman's shoulders doubled. Shadow wobbled unsteadily atop of Sonic, wildly waving his black arms ((*mauled for bad pun*)) in an attempt to keep his balance. Once he'd centered himself, the hybrid hedgehog let out a disgruntled sigh. Couldn't he retreive at least ONE Chaos Emerald in a less-than-awkward way?? "Which one of you has the Cha--" That was when he realized exactly who it was he'd landed on. Shadow snarled. ". . . SONIC. . ."

"Mongoose? I don't know what you're talking about! And get off my sh- Gah!" Eggman leaned forward as the weight unexpectedly doubled. "Shadow?!" Reaching back, Eggman grabbed Sonic (and by extension, the hedgehog on THAT one), and tossed them to the ground in front of his desk. The hedgehog came to a realization. Someone was on his shoulders, too. He glanced up, and for a moment, he hardly believed what he saw. So he looked back at Eggman. ... But then he looked back, and gave a slightly stunned expression in reaction to the arrival of the black hedgehog. "Shadow?! What--?!" It was then that something -else- came to his attention. Something pink. Something... very pink. His eyes immediately snapped over to May, and the sudden recognition of a pink hedgehog caused him to lose his balance. "A-Amy--?!" And that's when a grumpy old man took him by the ankles, and slammed him face-first into the hard floor of the courthouse, possibly leaving an impression into it with his perfect blue visage. Sonic was stunned for several seconds, stars and planets swirling about in his subconscious as he struggled to pry his face out of the linoleum. "Grk...! Ngrh..!"

For all of his flaunted perfection as being "The Ultimate Lifeform", Shadow made a somewhat less-than-graceful exit from Sonic (and by proxy, Eggman)'s shoulders -- that is, when the hedgehog beneath his feet suddenly vanished, they hybridhog had little more at his disposal than to flail wildly in a desperate attempt to maintain balance on Eggman's back. However, this didn't even come close to happening, and instead he bounced off the doctor's back and thumped unceremoniously onto the prosecution's table. Shadow pushed himself upright with a gutteral growl. Honestly, he didn't care what his peers thought about him, but it'd be nice to do this with SOME dignity!! "Who here has a Chaos Emerald, dammit?!" the crossbreed barked.

Good thing Shadow had chosen to make his appearance when he had, for after Sonic's earlier comment to Metal, the utter surprise had quite possibly been the only thing that kept the metallix from attempting to throttle his counterpart. As it were, the robohog made a few rather ugly comments in binary as he pulled away the wiring Tails had attached to him and slid away from the bench. Walking toward Sonic he swiftly planted his foot on top of the hedgehog's head and rooted him there. "For the record, erinacid, being less like you is a compliment. Now do not touch my Liege again."

Nothing ever went right. Nothing ever will go right. So why was it then, when something wasn't going right at that moment, the fox found himself flustered and his face within his palms? Because that's what happens when a person sees some crazy guy appear on top of their friend who is then thrown down on to a table by their bitter enemy. Anger was a natural reaction. Having a deadly robot pin down a friend didn't exactly help either. To be sure, Tails had witnessed some form of compassion within Metal just a few minutes earlier, but to Sonic and himself, he was always about as friendly as a rabid dog. Eyes narrowed, Tails swiftly flew over to the scene in progression, where Metal would hear a delightful hum just behind him, for Tails had pulled from his hammerspace a cannon in the shape of a conventional toaster, and now had the weapon aimed at the back of the robot's head. "Don't touch Sonic and we won't touch Eggman." the fox warned, feeling adrenaline begin to rush through him. Fight or flight was the only option now, and despite feeling that he had perhaps made a rather stupid move, Tails couldn't stand by and just let Sonic get manhandled. Hopefully, Metal would back off, an inflection that was heavilly carried in the kit's warning, and everything would be fine and dandy. ... Or as fine and dandy as playing with bad guys ever was.

Eggman waved his hand as though the scene unfolding before him was irrelevant. "I'm done here! You can clean up whatever disputes you have on your own." Eggman began to walk toward the door, but paused on his way out and turned his head over his shoulder. "By the way, Shadow, you may be interested to know that this is a courthouse... and that you have been very hard to find in spite of being summoned to court. Just a heads up."

The hedgehog let out something akin to a yelp the moment the metal doppelganger shoved his metallic foot onto the back of his head. It wasn't that -painful-, per se, but the mortal speed demon still felt it, that much was certain. With a grunt, Sonic slowly managed to put an inch's worth of distance between his face and the floor, and with one eye open, and a tiny smirk, he attempted to save what he could of his somewhat shattered dignity at that point. "... Heh... normally, I wouldn't let somethin' like -this- go, Rustbucket, but I got business to take care of... I'll catch up to you at a later date...!" And with that, the hedgehog put on a sharp boost, and in the blink of an eye, Metal now had disoriented balance, and a speedy blur dashed circles around the Eggman robot, eventually grabbing Tails, and taking his leave out the doors of the courthouse. After the wind had settled down, it was clear from the mere seconds event that the supersonic hedgehog had just taken leave with his partner in crime... Or not-crime, rather. You get the gist.
